The Mejia family recently got a chance to see for themselves Oaxacalifornia: The Return before it begins its festival run. Due to Covid-19 we had to change plans but on the night of the Oscars, they made their own red carpet sat down together and watched the film followed by a zoom chat with many of the crew! A great night.
The Mejia family emigrated from Oaxaca to Fresno, California 40 years ago. Filmmaker Trisha ZIff filmed the family in 1996, and returns now to see the changes that have settled over them, and follows the family on their return to Mexico.
